I still remember the feeling when I first registered as a student at the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEP), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). To be honest, excitement was only part of it. The bigger feeling was uncertainty.
Unlike many students who enter university immediately after finishing school, I began this journey as a working adult. At that point in my life, I already had a stable job and a daily routine. Deciding to return to university and pursue a degree was both exciting and intimidating. I kept asking myself the same questions: "Can I still study effectively after all these years?" and "Will I be able to balance work, classes, assignments, and personal commitments?"
Walking into FEP for the first time felt like stepping into a new chapter of my life. I was surrounded by students from different backgrounds, age groups, and professions. Initially, I worried that I might feel out of place. However, those concerns slowly disappeared as I got to know my classmates and lecturers. I soon realised that everyone was there for the same purpose, to learn, improve themselves, and achieve their academic goals.
As the weeks turned into semesters, FEP gradually became more than just a faculty. It became a place where I challenged myself, gained new knowledge, and built meaningful friendships. Looking back, I am grateful that I took the leap and decided to continue my education despite the doubts I had in the beginning.
Today, whenever I walk through the corridors of FEP, I am reminded of that first day and how far I have come since then. What started as a decision to further my education has become one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It taught me that learning has no age limit, and that it is never too late to invest in yourself and your future.
